24. Bozilla (11 points, 4 Votes)

High Vote: 6 (Dweebyllo)

% of Ballots Made: 21.1%

I like how she’s bigger than everyone else. Doesn’t have a lot of the in between stuff figured out but her power spots look great. Japan can always use more big scary Gaijin wrestlers. – DanRice

She’s still very much figuring it out in the ring as she gets more experience, but Bozilla has been one of the best parts of Marigold whenever I check in on a show. She has real potential to be one of the next great powerhouse joshi wrestlers. – chris

23. Mochizuki Jr (12 Points, 2 Votes)

High Vote: 3 (@bigboysplaywcw)

% of Ballots Made: 10.5%

The crazy, noisy, bizarre son of Dragon Gate legend Masaaki Mochizuki, Mochizuki Jr. has a huge legacy to live up to, and so far he seems on the right track. Debuting in the summer of 2022 in Korakuen Hall, Jr. is clearly someone that the promotion has extremely high hopes for and have already put work into presenting him as a star, giving him his first title win less than 3 months after he debuted at the company’s biggest show of the year Kobe World, where he won the triangle gate trios championship with his father and Susume Yokosuka (then named Susumu Mochizuki) as part of the reunited M3K, a faction primarily designed as a Mochizuki Jr. delivery system. In storyline, the special attention he’s received has produced a great narrative thread with other wrestlers of his generation resenting him and in two cases turning on him after previously forming tag teams, a record Sting would be proud of.

The nepo baby allegations will probably never entirely go away, but Mochizuki Jr. has a real spark and energy that should see him carve out a name in his own right. This year he broke away from his father, toured Europe and joined the Gold Class stable. He’s built a great connection with the company’s fan base already, particularly in Tokyo, and his execution of moves would be impressive from someone with 3 or 4 times as much experience, in particular he’s got a beautiful German suplex.

In a company which has had a big youth movement in recent years, there might not be a more important long term bet than Mochizuki Jr. He’s a link to older eras of Dragon Gate/Toryumon while still feeling fresh and new, someone who the different demographics of the Dragon Gate fanbase can hopefully unite behind. If Mochizuki Jr. can keep improving at the current rate and stay healthy, Za Wārudo is his oyster. – EAMONN

21-t. Darius Martin (13 Points, 2 Votes)

High Vote: 3 (Henry/HeadCheese)

% of Ballots Made: 10.5%

Kind of sidetracked by the Dante pushes since they entered AEW, it’s easy to forget Darius was the Martin brother who had most of the indie singles wrestler hype. He hasn’t gotten those same singles opportunities since he left the Air Wolf moniker and got signed, but he’s a solid glue guy in tag and trios matches. An incredibly capable hand. – chris

21-t. Noisy Boy (13 Points, 2 Votes)

High Vote: 3 (chris)

% of Ballots Made: 10.5%

Only didn’t make my list because I couldn’t confirm his age. That’s me being a stickler because he is clearly very young. He is oftentimes the only bright spot on IWRG shows. A walking highlight reel. – DanRice

Hard to gauge his actual age, but with his experience level and appearance, I took the risk of being wrong voting for him. The Mexa Boys vs. Mala Fama feud has been one of the major highlights of IWRG all year long, and Noisy Boy’s dazzling highspots have been a big reason why. He showed his versatility on the mat and as a hardcore wrestler in that Arez match. One of the best on the lucha indies for the past few years. – chris
