Violent People's 25 Under 25 Intro

Welcome to Violent People’s 25 Under 25. Unless you suffer from some sort of illiteracy, which getting thus far would be an accomplishment, this is a list of the 25 best wrestlers under 25. The list was voted on by Violent People contributors as well as a few select folks whose votes we felt would improve the voting pool.

We should get out of the way why we chose 25 as the age instead of, for instance, 30. The part that is half a bit is that everyone has seen 30 under 30 lists so that on its face felt less unique. Besides not wanting to walk well-trotted ground, there are so many great wrestlers between 25-30 right now that we are all keenly aware of because they’ve been wrestling for nearly in a decade in some cases. In other industries where you see 30 under 30s, it is to highlight the next generation. In sports and wrestling, that is one’s prime or certainly rubbing right against it. In wrestling, the age bracket is not short of some of the biggest stars in wrestling.

For better or worse, Violent People contributors don’t always love going over the usual suspects. When we start looking at 25 and under, we start to look at those folks who are still figuring it out. They are likely excelling if they make the list but it would be unfair to say they are fully formed pro wrestlers. There was a feeling this did a much better job of identifying that next generation of great wrestler.

The goal was simple, but the rubric was less so, which is to say there was none. While this sort of project inherently lifts up top prospects, the prompt was “list your top 10 wrestlers under 25, ranked from 1-10”. Simple enough but that means different things to different people. Some prioritize ring-work, some promos, some a mix, and some purely of vibes. So to say upfront, this list doesn’t necessarily note the 25 wrestlers under 25 we expect to be the 25 best wrestlers in the years to come. Just that as of today, this is the creme of the crop.
