Some people say Kenny Omega is the best of all time and those people are wrong but don’t let that distract from the fact that 2016-2019 kenny omega was amazing. Kenny has a maximalist approach to wrestling where bigger equals better which can sometimes get on my nerves but when the matches are performed with the fire and athleticism that Kenny brings it’s hard to complain. The big Kenny matches against the likes of Okada, Tanahashi, and Naito are as good as people say. As for the rest of the decade Kenny was a pretty jr heavyweight wrestler, both as a singles or tag guy with Ibushi he had a very respectful first half to the decade with notable work in DDT and New Japan, but it doesn’t hold a candle to his work in the latter half of the decade. – the_padraig
An incredibly mercurial wrestler but a guy who I will always be fond of. He spends the early portions of the decade bouncing around DDT and NJPW, not the big match dynamo he would become but instead a charming go go go babyface wrestler having incredible fireworks displays in tags with Kota Ibushi as well as in singles like his underrated AJPW Junior title run. Once 2016 hits, he becomes a different beast entirely. Not a 100% hit rate but when Omega was on the wrestling world was on fire and nothing was more exciting than seeing what he would do next as he kneed and suplexed his way to the top of the heap in NJPW, the first foreigner to win the G1 Climax and one of the only foreigners to ever hold the IWGP gold. – Cole

When does John Cena stop being “the guy”, some say vs Bryan at SummerSlam 2013, id stay its next year’s SummerSlam against brock. But either way at some point John Cena stops being the guy, passed up by Roman. This provides Cena with a fantastically diverse decade for Cena. In the first half of the decade we have Cena doing he’s standing super Cena stick beating bad guys like the Nexus or in a much better match Brock Lesnar. But we also see him as “the man” for a misfit-like punk to rebel against resulting in the best matches of Cena’s career. But then post 2014 something changes Cena not main eventing every show or winning the world title every other month. But it’s not just booking Cena is wrestling different i despite the terms “PWG” or “work rate” Cena but there is truth that Cena changed how he wrestled. I can’t tell if this was a good or bad change but it was certainly different. This is all highlighted in his infamous US title open challenge run, where he would have match of the night week after week. A lot of criticism of John Cena is that he has the same match every time, well this decade shows how wrong those people are. – the_padraig
The man once saved Christmas by beating up Alberto Del Rio, and if that’s not top 5 of the decade material then I don’t know what is. – John Cena

One of the most consistent wrestlers ever and arguably the greatest tag team wrestler of the last 25 years, Roderick got the chance to finally shine as a singles champion in the 2010s (FIP isn’t real). His PWG title run is the best reign in the history of that belt, and the Bailey defense in particular is neck and neck with Hero/Tozawa for the best PWG singles match of the decade. – EAMONN
Roddy had an odd decade. Not really used properly in Cornette ROH or NXT on either ends of it, it’s really a few peak years in the middle that gets the Rod Dog on this list. But brother, what a peak. Arguably the best wrestler in the world in the best year for wrestling all decade (2015), by the time Roddy had left the independents he had proven to be a miracle worker. Heel or face, tag or singles, Roddy was delivering high level performances everywhere he showed up. The great PWG title matches against Mike Bailey and Trevor Lee, the Dojo Bros tag work, the KOR tag team in NXT, Evolve pervert classics with ZSJ and Thatcher. If he hadn’t gone to collect dust in Orlando for just a year longer you would probably see him even higher on this list. – Cole

As cool and magnetic a wrestler as anyone all decade, Kana/Asuka smashed through the barriers and expectations of what a Japanese woman would be allowed to achieve in WWE. Her strongest work of the decade though is likely her series with Meiko Satomura, the 2014 match in particular stands out as one of the most unique experiences of the 2010s. – EAMONN
It’s incredible how far she got and how quickly. An absolute firebrand in Japan, with her sizzling manifesto that put the entire joshi scene on notice, she blasted to the top of the industry and backed it up with great work against the likes of Meiko Satomura, Arisa Nakajima and Kyoko Kimura. In America as well, she put up a solid resume as an attraction in Shimmer and had a standout match with Sara Del Rey in CHIKARA. And then she signed with WWE and gained more ground there than anyone expected possible for a japanese woman at the time. The undefeated streak, the great matches against Bayley and Ember Moon, the general NXT Great Match Machine being fine tuned to support her and then to a lesser degree the Main Roster Machine as well. She managed to get more out of a dud like Charlotte Flair than anyone else besides a horsewoman did all decade, got to beat Becky Lynch at the height of her powers and had some great work with Sasha Banks to boot. On top of that are the smaller hits against people like Emma or Nikki Cross that show just how much the aura of Asuka could elevate a match. A great run from year to year all decade and broke down barriers for what a joshi could do in America. – Cole
If there’s anyone who can compete with L.A. Park for the title of “most naturally charismatic wrestler alive,” it’s Asuka. You might not like hearing that, but it’s true, and you’re going to have to live with it. Watch the little motions she makes: all of them are probably practiced to a fine polish, and yet it always comes off as spontaneous and in the moment. You can’t teach that. – pto
Proof that raw violence will get over in any promotion on the planet. Asuka’s nasty, jarring style matches up beautifully with a variety of opponents, from beating rookies/jobbers senseless for having the audacity to get in the ring to giving top stars something to think about with a stiff kick to the head. She fits into any situation or role in a match and it’s been great to see WWE almost competently use this all-time talent. – jon

The last few years of El Generico see the conclusion of the Generico/Steen rivalry in some fantastically violent affairs from fights without honours to ladder wars. Then blah blah blah went to run an orphanage blah blah. Sami’s NXT run sees one of the best title chases in wrestling history with his quest to beat Adrian Neville, which then immediately goes into another feud with Kevin, which comes close to topping the heights of their ROH feud. He ends his NXT career with some fantastic bouts against Samoa Joe and a debuting Shinsuke Nakamura. Given that his main roster run was very disappointing, with a heel turn that gave us such segments as Bobby Lashley’s three older sisters but there’s still good stuff in there, mostly when he’s facing Kevin again. – the_padraig

After the 2010s, it’s no longer enough to stomp the mat when you’re throwing a punch. Instead, every strike, whether it’s a dropkick, a running knee, an elbow, whatever, has to be accompanied by the sound of palm on thigh, a “THWACK” noise that’s still less satisfying than any given kung-fu stock foley. I don’t know who to blame for this widespread proliferation, but my gut tells me Chris Hero, because he’s the only person who consistently does the bit well – and that’s because he committed to the bit enough to grow a huge gut to hide the slapping motion. If you ever see the guy in person, he’s huge. Tall, broad shoulders. He doesn’t NEED the whip-crack noise of a spanked thigh on every elbow. Even so, he’s still the master of it, and everyone else can only try to be half as good. – pto
The best wrestler of the 2010s was a man who took roughly a year to flame out of the biggest promotion on earth. Before that, he was a great wrestler, a world traveler, and having some of the most overindulgent matches you could imagine, and they did not suck! Post getting bumped out of WWE he decides he would simply become the greatest American indie wrestler to ever live. Traveling the country, spreading the gospel of grappling. After all this he goes back to WWE and that somehow doesn’t prevent him from being the best. What a decade. – Sam

The Briscoes are the best tag team of all time and while their 2010s is not as good as their 2000’s they are still fantastic. Having great feuds with the Bucks, OGK, and GoD of all people. Briscoe are the act that never left ROH sticking with it as the company changes around them. Jay started writing in more singles doubts winning the ROH world title twice, ROH 2010 roster is not for me but Jay managed to get consistently great matches. Getting Adam Cole’s career-best matches. Getting greatness out of weak opponents is something I think defines Jay briscoes decade. Reach for the sky boy. – the_padraig

A case of entirely peaks and big matches. Brock Lesnar was not a permanent fixture of WWE television in the decade but every time he was on there it meant something. He has duds, no one can deny that, but you can count them all on one hand. Compare that to the breadth of great work he has. Both John Cena matches, the CM Punk match, the Mania 31 main event. Add on to that the one offs against indie favourites throughout the decade, your Styles, Joe, Bryan, Balor and Rey. The big summerslam kaiju monster fight in 2017. It feels fucking titanic when he’s in there and the matches he was a part of every year were not just great, they were Match of the Year great. It’s not the Good Person 100 2010s. – Cole
Brock’s return to WWE left an impact on wrestling in the same way that a derailed train leaves an impact on the town next to the tracks: he flattened everything in his path. Brock’s mythical status as The Man Who Doesn’t Have To Play Ball folded itself into his wrestling style, and the more fans believed that there was one set of rules for Brock matches and another for everyone else, the more it came true. Plus he gave Randy Orton brain damage, which if we’re being honest is pure bonus points. – pto

Some of my favorite singles matches of the decade involve Kazuchika Okada. He is also great in tag matches, Fantasticamania Okada rules.
He plays such a great silly guy too, Still waiting for Kazuchika Okada to accept Dragon George’s challenge. Does the Arms Wide Opan because like he’s Creed. Rainmaker is cool move.
I also think the amazing fact that the Okada wrestled in an open air building in the 2010s (I think) was against Minoru Suzuki match where it was raining, he’s a literal rainmaker. – Henry/HeadCheese
