So we have had Violent People running for multiple months now and all of the founders have had their THING. Sam has done nearly (maybe all?) of the backend stuff to make this an actual functioning website on the internet, Dan has been a writing machine as well as starting the Rotten Rewatch and Chris was the master of the Violent People 100, all insane undertakings in themselves. Recently we have launched Violent People Radio, where the four of us talk on a weekly basis and have a grand ole time, which only my gears turning. So here we are, a project from my brain, let’s talk about the American Dragon.
Now, the project is not just me, every Monday and Friday from now until Labor Day, a new writer will be writing about a specific year in Danielson’s career from 1999-2024, that means it’s the 25th anniversary baby, and we here at Violent People love good numbers and twenty-five is a good ass number. One of our big ideas when launching this website is to give people a spot to write about professional wrestling, and I am so happy that this project will host pieces from twenty-five different writers ranging from first time pro wrestling writers to some of your favorite authors in the medium, it has been awesome to be coordinating this for the last month behind the scenes and I am pumped for you all (the reader) to bear witness to the fruits of everyone’s labor.
Each piece will be unique to the writer, I told everyone to make the piece their own, so what does that actually mean? It could mean you could be reading 400 words on a specific Danielson promo or thousands of words about some of the many, many weirdo things he has said in a public forum in the last quarter of a century. For instance, I will be covering something from 2006, and if you know anything about my biases as a pro wrestling fan you may know where I am heading with that, but you’ll just have to be patient.
So, TL;DR, starting Friday you will see something about 1999 pop up on this website from our very own Sam, and each Monday and Friday after that until Labor Day there will be a Wet Hot American Dragon Summer piece up for your reading pleasure. So grab a drink, eat an Apple, and let’s talk about one of the greatest of all time.
